Hokkaido Northside is a multi-day adventure designed for those looking to venture off the beaten path and discover the hidden gems of Hokkaido’s northern peaks. We’ll base ourselves near the northern edge of Daisetsuzan National Park, using the Kurodake ropeway to gain elevation and access vast, untouched backcountry terrain.
In peak season, we’ll also set out on foot from the roadside to reach lesser-known zones that offer amazing ski runs. Flexibility will be key — we’ll adapt to the day’s conditions and make decisions that give us the best possible turns and mountain experience.
• We start the day early with a solid breakfast. During breakfast, we’ll have a short briefing to decide the day’s plan.
• Riding session begins. We’ll head to the selected area and focus on having a productive and safe day on the mountain.
• After riding, we visit the onsen to relax and recover in the Japanese hot springs.
• Dinner is served either at Yukiumi house or at a nearby restaurant. After that, we rest and prepare for the next day.
In the heart of Hokkaido, nestled in the quiet village of Kamikawa, our lodge is just a 7-minute walk from the town’s small train station. Surrounded by nature, this peaceful and remote setting offers a true taste of the wild north. Kamikawa may be a small town, but it has just what you need — a couple of cozy cafés, a supermarket with the essentials, and a few convenience stores.
The area is known for its exceptional access to some of the most stunning points in Daisetsuzan National Park, including Sounkyo, Kogen Onsen, and Aizankei. From our lodge, you’ll be perfectly placed to explore these scenic spots and venture into Hokkaido’s more remote corners.
The accommodation features traditional Japanese-style twin rooms, with a clean and comfortable aesthetic. There’s also a spacious and well-equipped kitchen for you to cook and relax in after a big day in the mountains. Whether you're looking for adventure or quiet reconnection with nature, this is the perfect base to do it.
